A Gander Mountain Seasonal Sales Associate is responsible for providing superior customer service and assisting customers in their selection of products. A Gander Sales Associate recommends products that meet a customer’s need for their desired outdoor adventures by asking questions, listening, recommending and encouraging the sale. This position is responsible for sustaining merchandise standards by maintaining a clean, replenished shopping environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Share your passion and expertise for outdoor lifestyle products by providing great customer service that ensures customer’s outdoor needs are met.

  • Deliver key metrics including sales, credit, warranties, etc. to drive the success of the business.

  • Restock merchandise to ensure the department and merchandise displays are cleaned, organized and fully stocked.

  • Demonstrate safe practices and procedures in store by adhering to company standards.

  • Ensuring federal, state and local compliance to protect our Federal Firearms License and adhere to company policy on the safe handling and accurate inventory of firearms.

Non-Essential Functions:

  • Complete other duties as assigned by management.

Education/Years of Experience:

  • High School Diploma as appropriate for age, or working towards a High School Diploma, GED or equivalent is required

  • 1+ years of experience preferred

Other Qualifications:

  • Must have a passion for the outdoors with personal experience and proven knowledge in one or more of the following areas; shooting sports, hunting, fishing, camping, marine, apparel, footwear and outdoor lifestyle.

  • Proven ability to engage customers and deliver unparalleled customer service every day; possess a positive, can-do attitude and enjoy connecting and interacting with customers.

  • Demonstrated excellent selling skills with the ability to meet or exceed sales goals.

  • Ability to communicate, both verbally and written, clearly and concisely in English is required.

  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, including evenings, weekends and holidays.

  • Must be age compliant to sell firearms.

  • Able to freely access all areas of the store including sales floor, stock area and register area by standing, walking, stooping, crawling, crouching, kneeling and climbing a ladder; ability to life and/or move up to 50 lbs.

  • Strong computer skills with the ability to effectively maneuver in a Windows environment and through Microsoft Office products.

In the performance of your job duties, you may be expected to handle situations that involve firearms, classifying your position as safety-sensitive. To clarify, this means that at any time as an essential function of your job, you may be required to manage someone who is handling a firearm, or directly handle a firearm safely. An accident or impairment under such circumstances could cause loss of life, serious bodily injury, or significant property or environmental damages. As such, and in light of these concerns, you and others in your job classification will be subject to random drug testing.
