DescriptionThe VP of Information Technology provides the vision and direction for the Company’s information technology department which encompasses: support services, infrastructure, development, technology solutions and security/risk management. Coordinates, facilitates
and consults with the various business functions within the Company on information technology, communications and other related initiatives. Ensures all information services and technology solutions are efficient, secure from external and internal threats
and add value to the Company.
Specific Duties Include:
Responsible for envisioning future technology needs in collaboration with the operational business leaders and recommending technology resource strategies and projects that meet the Company’s strategic objectives.
Creates an IT work environment that fosters creative solutions and employee engagement.
Continually improves IT operations by measuring performance compared to industry and internally developed standards and developing strategies for incremental improvement.
Builds collaborative relationships with our IT vendors to ensure services are delivered in a cost-effective manner.
Leverages the IT resources and technology solutions which includes but is not limited to software applications across all the Company’s diverse business units.
Optimize the effectiveness and cost of IT through the appropriate use of both internal and external resources dictated by the situation.
Develops a business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives.
Maintains up-to-date knowledge of technology standards, industry trends, emerging technologies and software development practices.
Ensure the Company’s key IT resources are secure from external and internal threats.
Actively participate in the development and management of business strategy focusing on how our technology strategy can support and enhance the Company.
Ensure that appropriate communications take place throughout the location(s) by facilitating/participating in monthly open-book meetings, conducting regular team meetings, encouraging an open-door policy, and proactively seeking feedback from team members.
Foster an engaged work environment within the department, encouraging accountability, open communication, teamwork, and a commitment to serving the customer.
Lead and manage all business and/or department activities related to ensuring the customer experience is positive and that all team members are committed to creating solutions and long-term relationships with customers.
Conduct self in the presence of customers and community to present a professional image of R.D. Offutt Company and RDO Equipment Co.
Manage the evaluation, allocation, and management of physical and financial resources and administer the hiring, development/training, management, evaluation, and effective assignment of people resources.
Responsible for ensuring that sound and safe business practices and processes are implemented and continuously improved to effectively and efficiently achieve ethical business objectives.
Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments and adhere to all policies and procedures as specified in company manuals and as directed in the employee handbook.
Proactively seek and participate in available company-sponsored training, in an effort to develop and advance knowledge base and skill set.
Perform all other duties as assigned by management in a professional and efficient manner.
10+ years of progressive technology leadership with experience including executive leadership and multiple technology functions such as software development, user support, system administration and project management.
Bachelor’s Degree in a computer or technology related major.
Strong track record of evaluating, analyzing, designing, implementing, leading and monitoring effective and efficient IT processes.
Demonstrated hands-on-leadership of contemporary enterprise technology architectures and best practices.
Results oriented with an emphasis on both individual and team accountability with the ability to delegate, supervise and perform hands on tasks as dictated by the situation.
Strong relationship building skills with a history of significant interaction with all levels of employees and management.
Excellent verbal, written presentation and informal communication skills with an ability to communicate complex technical concepts and facts using non-technical language.
