JOB SUMMARY

Carries out a variety of healthcare development opportunities for the Sanford and holds a leadership role in the Sanford Foundation. Key responsibilities in development administration, donor recognition, annual fund, major gift and special event coordination and grant writing. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required. Responsibilities include writing for gift acknowledgment and thanks, newsletters, brochures, gift solicitations, grants and gift proposals, making personal contacts with major and prospect donors, and leading specific fund-raising campaigns. Must have an entrepreneurial spirit to identify and implement development opportunities.Must have self-initiating skills and desires. Must possess strong written, verbal and listening communication skills. Must have knowledge of development strategies and skills pertinent to making personal solicitations. Must have good organizational skills and the ability to work well with interruptions and stress. Must have flexibility and adaptability skills to accommodate changing situations and workloads. Must be able to handle multiple tasks and projects to completion and possess a strong sense of customer service.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage assigned Children’s Miracle Network partner portfolios, as well as, increase awareness and fundraising for other Sanford Health initiatives and activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

4 year degree in liberal arts, marketing, business or similar field required. 3-5 years of progressively responsible positions in business or corporate development or marketing positions in successful regional or national organizations. Proven experience in the creation and execution of special events, supporting annual and corporate philanthropy and an understanding of the donor cycle and donor philosophies. Proven track record and understanding of multi-channel fundraising and direct mail. Proven track record with a wide variety of personalities and skill levels including high level volunteers. Excellent communicator, presenter, and outstanding writing skills are mandatory. Non-profit experience, especially in a large healthcare organization is a plus.
