Job Description

Volt Workforce Solutions is supporting a client who has been in business for over 70 years. They have created a diverse portfolio of steel products and capabilities while extending the company’s reach across North America. This company’s mission is to be an industry leader in quality manufactured and fabricated steel products.


Purchase raw materials and subcontract work for the company. Responsible for managing the cost and on-time delivery of purchased materials from assigned suppliers. Coordination of supplier quality improvements with quality team members.


  • Purchase steel, fabricated parts, paint, and accessories

  • Research new raw material supplier and subcontractor options for company locations

  • Assist with developing and maintaining vendor qualifications/assessments.

  • Communicate current material prices, lead times and mill rolling schedules.

  • May work direct with the steel mills negotiating pricing.

  • May need to analyze multiple potential vendor solutions and make sound purchase decisions based upon price, availability and internal customer requirements.

  • Prompt and dependable attendance.

  • Other duties as assigned.


  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Associate’s degree in Business or related field or equivalent work experience.

  • Minimum of 2 years purchasing experience.

  • Steel manufacturing experience preferred.


  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Familiarity with various computer software programs.

  • Ability to multi-task.

  • Organizational skills a must.

  • Familiarity with steel items.
